A Kids Book About Ageism Event Interest Form

Thank you for your interest in bringing an event to your community regarding A Kids Book About Ageism!  Written through a co-creative process and informed by lived experience, the book explores what ageism is and why it hurts us all.

Please read on, and then complete this interest form, if working with us excites you!  We’ll follow up to schedule a 15-minute call with you to learn more.

We offer three basic programs, which can be offered virtually or in person, based on availability:

  • Meet the Author (45 minutes): This program, geared toward adult audiences, provides broader context for why the Connecticut Age Well Collaborative wrote A Kids Book About Ageism, insights into the drafting process, an interactive opportunity to discuss the concepts in the book and next steps for those who want to turn theory into action.

  • Read and Discuss (30 minutes): This program, geared toward children, provides an age-appropriate introduction to the Connecticut Age Well Collaborative, a read-aloud, group conversation about the book, and an interactive activity around the words we use to describe aging.

  • One Community, One Read (1-hour training, support materials and 1-hour implementation check-in): A Kids Book About Ageism and its associated conversation guide presents an incredible opportunity for intergenerational programming, allyship and movement-building around dismantling ageism.  We’ll empower you to facilitate a One Community, One Read event through an initial 1-hour training, support materials and 1-hour implementation check-in.  Training will include practical strategies for partnering with kids in purposeful, respectful and genuinely inclusive ways, to avoid the unintended consequence of adultism.

We ask communities interested in programming to help reimburse our basic expenses, according to the following suggested scale (with potential discounts available for multiple events):

  • Meet the Author: $250 (virtual); $500 (in person, Connecticut only)

  • Read and Discuss: $200 (virtual); $350 (in person, Connecticut only)

  • One Community, One Read: $1000 (virtual only)
